Hola! I’m Marisa. My parents are from Mexico, but I was born right here in the United States. I can speak two languages -- Spanish and English.
I have one brother, Luis, and one sister, Anna. They’re both older than me. I think my favorite thing in the world is fiestas and holidays. Dia de los Muertos is my favorite holiday!
I also love Quinceañeras –- my sister Anna is going to have one real soon. (You have them when you turn 15!) I can’t wait because I’ll get a chance to dance at her party.
I love music and dancing. I play music with my friends Brianna, Rina and Asha all the time. I also like all sports -– especially futbol -– which is what they call soccer in Mexico. Lorenzo, Trey and Raj play soccer with me. I also like bull fighting and Lucha Libre. They’re both very popular in Mexico.
My papa tells me lots of stories about Mexico and one of my favorites is about the snake Quetzalcoatl. It’s a little scary, but really cool!
My parents are really nice –- except when they make me clean up my room! Papa can play music too -– he used to play guitar in a mariachi band.
My heroes are Frida Kahlo, Juan Diego, and Mahatma Gandi. And when I grow up, I want to travel all around the world and see stuff like the Taj Mahal. Adios!
You can see me in Global Wonders: Around the World, Global Wonders: Mexico, Global Wonders: India and Global Wonders: African-American. |
