Children all over the world are experiencing “a wonderful world of cultural discoveries™” with the launch of Global Wonders™, a new cross-cultural entertainment and education brand that introduces children to the vibrant and varied cultures of their family, friends, neighbors and the world.
The ever-changing world we live in is a “Cultural Kaleidoscope” where every individual culture and distinct experience adds to a colorful and enriching global view. Through an introductory collection of media products (DVDs, music and flash cards), children will discover and share the everyday customs, music, heritage, language and lifestyles in the “kaleidoscope” of cultures that surround them.
Each product is designed to help the individual child gain a more enlightened and educated view of the world, and inspire and encourage them to form cross-cultural friendships. By having a broader understanding, children can increase self-identity, self-esteem and their overall social competence.
The Global Wonders videos include animation, music, and stories written and performed by Emmy award winning leaders in children’s entertainment including:
Sindy McKay – Writer: A two-time Emmy winner including 2006 Outstanding Animated Program for her work on “Jakers!”, and whose work includes “Clifford The Big Red Dog.”
Ed Wexler – Animation Director, Character Designer, Art Director: An Emmy-nominated, 20-year veteran of Walt Disney Animation (“Little Einsteins,” “My Friends Tigger and Pooh”).
Jim Latham – Music Composer: Emmy winner whose work includes original songs, themes and underscore for children’s programming (“JoJo’s Circus,” “Dragon Tales,” “Disney Princess: A Christmas of Enchantment”).
Among the expert contributors to the Global Wonders brand is developmental expert and educational advisor J. Kevin Nugent, Ph.D., founder and director of the Brazelton Institute at Children’s Hospital in Boston and faculty member of Harvard Medical School in the Department of Pediatrics. Global Wonders was created by Rashmi Turner, a working mother and former executive at The Walt Disney Company who previously led educational productions, product development for media lines of businesses, marketing, and communications, for “The Baby Einstein Company.” |
